The atmosphere inside the palace was lively and chaotic as evening approached. Servants and attendants hurried through the corridors, preparing for a massive feast to celebrate the queen’s birthday. Following royal custom, the celebrations were divided: a grand gathering was being held in the reception hall of the harem for the women, while the men gathered separately in the Diwan.
